There's probably a billion business ideas....an countless experts who have something to say about writing a "business plan". Starting a business is not as challenging as it seems. When you create a thorough business plan you are setting a firm foundation and framing the blueprint for a successful business. Whenever I start to plan a new product, project or business I start by answering four simple questions.
Business Planning Questions:
- What will you sell (type of service or product)?
- How will you deliver it, what’s the operation process?
- Who will you service or who are your target clients?
- When will you complete the necessary tasks?
What will you sell (type of service or product)? In order to gain a great understanding of your service or product you must know your mission. Your mission will identify the true essence of your business. Ask yourself “what are the benefits you want your clients to experience from this product”, and then deliver.
How will you deliver it, what’s the operation process? This is a very important question. When you identify the operation steps it helps you in the planning process of determining the various positions, technology and resources needed to successfully serve the market. This process should include production, packaging, sales, marketing, customer service and follow-up strategies.
Who will you service or what’s your target clients? Start by writing a synopsis on your client. Write the synopsis as if you’re writing about one specific person. Give them a name, age and personality. Write about their goals, fears, hopes and dreams. Describe what keeps them up at night and how your product will be exactly what they need.
When will you complete the necessary tasks? This is the execution question. This question will allow you to create a timeline of tasks and deadline dates. This question will assist you in the scheduling of your projects. After completing the necessary planning requirements and thoroughly answering this question, you should be ready the start taking action.
